My Worst Fear

Thursday night, Stew came home from work, and I suddenly started feeling weird. I was dizzy, nauseous, unsure of what was happening. As time went by, it became clear that I was going to get sick. A bug? Food poisoning? Either way, it was bad! I’ll leave out the gory details.

As I sat on the couch, wishing this would pass, Turner was standing next to me whining. I was about to say, “Turner, I’m really not in the mood to listen to your whining”, when he projectile vomited all over himself and the couch. And there it was, me and Turner sick at THE SAME TIME!!! My worst fear!

This was the first time Turner ever threw up, so we didn’t know what to expect. I was as helpful as a fart in a wind-storm, so Stew was Mr. Mom. And thank God for him! He put Turner to bed (without a bottle). Turner would throw up in his crib every so often. Stew would go in, wipe it up, and walk out. Poor guy. Turner surprisingly slept through the night. I had a vision of me and him up all night taking turns throwing up.

Yesterday, Turner woke up all better. Stew gave him an ounce of Pedialyte in his sippy cup. Poor baby was SO thirsty that he cried hysterically for more. So we gave him 2 more oz and then 2 more oz. Once he held that down, Stew gave him some toast. He ate mild foods all day and a few sippy cups of Pedialyte. No milk!

I, on the other hand, couldn’t even get out of bed. I slept ALL day. I walked exactly ONE time and sat up TWICE. Yuck.

This morning, we were all feeling better. I was able to have some oatmeal for breakfast and walk downstairs. Big improvement. Turner seemed good too. We gave him a little milk this morning with his oatmeal, and he was ok with that. He was just a little sleepy and went down for his nap early.

I knew it was only a matter of time that Turner would get sick! I am proud to say, we got through it! He’s one tough little dude. And thank goodness for my hubby!
