Turner is blossoming into quite the fun little baby! He has such a personality! We feel so blessed to have such a happy baby! I’ve been taking notes of his milestones as the weeks go by. I wanted to get them on my blog so I don’t lose them! So here goes:
5 Weeks Old: Smiling, laughing, sleeping 7 hours at night
10 Weeks Old: sleeping 10 hours at night, batting at toys, bringing hands together, and drooling
12 Weeks Old: Drooling like a mad man
14 Weeks Old: Moved his “dream feed” up to 9:30pm instead of 10:30pm. Sleeping from 9:30-7:30am, rolled over from tummy to back
It’s really amazing how much he changes! It’s hard to believe that his 4 month dr visit is in a week! He’ll be starting solids before we know it! I absolutely LOVE this stage. For the first time in my life, I’m not looking ahead to “what’s next”. I wish time would stand still and I could just hold Turner forever!

Today was quite a big day for us! We started our morning as usual, feeding Turner while we sat in bed drinking our coffee. While Turner napped, we got everything ready to spend the day in Summerville since we would be celebrating STEW’S 30TH BIRTHDAY at my mom’s later that night. Once Turner woke up, we got him dressed and headed out the door for church. This was Turner’s first official trip to church! He couldn’t wait to meet Pastor Mike.
Family portrait! After church we went to my mom’s house for lunch. It was delicious. Grilled cheese and salad…Gigi knows how to make a mean grilled cheese.
After lunch we hung out and got things ready for supper! We had lots of great photo ops with my new camera! Then, everyone passed Turner around like a he was a hot potato. He didn’t seem to mind though! Here’s Gigi (my mom) with Turner.
And then his Nona held him (my grandmother).
Then it was Uncle Jesse’s turn (my brother).
Finally, it was time for dessert! Turner got comfy in his PJs and had his bottle while we sang to Stew and ate cake!
Needless to say, Turner was pooped by the end of the day!
We had so much fun celebrating Daddy’s birthday today! There is so much more celebrating to do! His birthday week has only just begun, and I have a feeling 30 will be his best year yet!
Every year we celebrate my birthday and the Super Bowl together at my grandparents’ house. It’s always a fun time with amazing food! This year was even more special, because I was able to dress up my little pumpkin! Here are some pictures of the festivities!
Daddy with his little man! Turner is 11 weeks old in this picture. Although he looks like a little boy!We started the celebration at my mom’s house so Stew could shoot his new gun in the backyard. It was the perfect day for shooting!
Then, it was off to Nanny and Pops’ for Emily Bowl! My mom got me a tiara…I was so excited!!
Nanny and Mom surprised me with the Magic Baby Bullet! I can’t wait to start making baby food. It’s hard to believe we’re almost to that phase of Turner’s life! He’s growing right before my eyes.
Turner started getting sleepy, so we parked him on Nanny’s lap. He was so relaxed and happy. We were making him laugh and laugh!!
Turner ended the night hangin with the guys watching the game! He had the best seat in the house…all snuggled up on Daddy’s lap! Overall, it was a great night. It was the best birthday celebration I could have asked for!
We have been having SO much fun with Turner lately! He’s almost 11 weeks old and at the age where he’s becoming interactive. We’ve had a few exciting milestones. Starting at 5 weeks, he began sleeping really well at night! He would wake up once in the middle of the night, usually around 2 or 3, for a feeding. Then, at 10 weeks, he dropped his middle of the night feeding and has slept anywhere between 7 and 10 hours at night!! He’s quite the chunker so his ped says it’s perfectly fine! I truly think it’s because of the Baby Wiseschedule we started him on at 5 weeks.
He started smiling around 5 weeks. It’s amazing how much he changes and develops each week! Starting around 9 weeks he started laughing!!! It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever experienced. We finally caught it on video!

I am so obsessed with this baby! It’s so exciting to see the new things he’s constantly learning! I am loving this phase of his life!
It’s hard to shield your baby from all the germs out there, especially during cold and flu season! You could, of course, keep your child indoors and never leave the house, but that’s not my style. I’ve been taking Turner out and about since he was probably 2 weeks. Maybe that was too early, but I would have gone crazy sitting inside everyday! That being said, we didn’t go out often and we were going places that weren’t crowded and no one was holding him! He made it through ok!
Now Stew, on the other hand, caught a cold a few weeks back. It was the whole sinus, sneezing, sore throat deal. I did NOT want Turner to get sick so I kicked into full on Mommy mode! Turner started getting the sniffles. He was sneezing more than usual and started with a dry cough. He had some eye gook too! I didn’t want to take him to the ped for fear of him catching some other illness going around! He didn’t have a fever, so I just decided I’d cure it at home, as long as he didn’t get any worse of course. Here are my natural remedies for the common cold! They worked like a charm!
Saline Solution-I made my own saline solution. You can definitely go out a buy saline drops for babies if you choose! I used 1/4 tsp salt to 1 cup water. I warmed the water just enough to melt the salt. I sucked it up into the bulb syringe and just did one to two little squirts in each nostril every 3 to 4 hours. I actually did it right before I fed him because he didn’t like it very much and feeding took his mind off it! I dumped the syringe after 24 hours and refilled with a clean batch.
The saline drops loosened up the goodies in Turner’s nose. I used this to suck the snot right out! He actually didn’t mind it. I even took a picture!
I used this to suck up the saline solution. I would shoot a few drops into his nose every 3-4 hours. I made sure to empty it and wash it after 24 hours!
Cool Mist Humidifier
This is amazing! We’ve been using it in Turner’s room since he was born. It really came in handy when he had the sniffles though! We put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in it when we filled it with water each night so it would spray the eucalyptus air. It seemed to help tremendously!
This was our saving grace. I made a mixture of eucalyptus oil and olive oil (1 to 4 ratio) in a little bowl and left it by his changing table. I would rub it on his chest and on our necks. This is like a natural vicks vapor rub. He would smell it on himself but also when we held him. I also put it in his humidifier and his bathtub too!
My little boy was as good as new after just a few days! Happy as a chubby little clam!
Turner is 6 weeks old!! He is really starting to get a personality. Mommy and Daddy are starting to feel well rested and can enjoy him so much more too!
He has reached the point where he is pretty much on a predictable schedule. I started giving him a bottle before bedtime at 5 weeks (because we would fall asleep while eating and not get a full feed) so he sleeps until 4 or 5 in the morning! Stew changes him and I feed him and then back to bed. He wakes up at 7:30 for the day. We play in bed until he goes down for his first nap around 9. We started the babywise schedule around 3 weeks. Of course he was eating every 2 hours for a while so we had to modify it. Basically our daily schedule now looks like this:
7:30-9am wake, change diaper, feed (wake time includes things like reading, tummy time, going for a walk, sitting in his swing, bouncy seat, play gym, etc)
10:30 wake, change, feed
12:00-1:30 pm nap
1:30 wake, change, feed
4:30 wake, change, feed
7:30 wake, feed, bath, change into PJs
10:30 change, bottle, bed
5am change, feed
7:30 am wake, change, feed
Sometimes he’ll fuss when we put him down for his naps but falls asleep after a few minutes. If he’s really crying we pick him up for a few seconds and then put him back in his bed. If he wakes up early from a nap, we’ll just go with it and start over for the next cycle. We’re not too rigid but it usually just ends up working! It was definitely hard to hear him cry at first, but that’s what babies do! Schedules aren’t for everyone, but this is very helpful for me since I work from home!
Life has definitely calmed down since the first few weeks. I feel like we’re all getting to know each other and getting into a routine. Each week seems easier! Turner likes to throw us a curve ball every now and then (aka growth spurt) but we’re able to handle it better now! We are so in love with this little munchkin!!
