Stew and I went out for Dinner Friday night. It’s been a while since we’ve been out together, so we did it up! We went downtown and started the night at Proof for a martini for me and bourbon for him.
After a drink, we walked down the street to Union Provisions. This restaurant is pretty new. I loved the location, right on King Street! It has these giant windows, so there is some great people watching to be had. The food was delicious too! They have small plates, so we ordered a few and shared.
And for the main event, we ended the night with Jeni’s ice cream!!!
First of all, if you’re feeling bad about yourself, go and see Ryan. He will make you feel like a movie star! He gave us a ton of samples! AND, he told me I was “very pretty”. I’m almost positive he’s not into girls, but I’ll take it!
I went for a mix of chocolate peanut butter and coffee ice cream with a drizzle of hot fudge. YUM!
Such a fun night and much needed! Charleston has the best food and is one of my favorite places ever! I’m so glad I live here.
It seems like we went from summer to fall overnight. I love the warm weather, but this is my favorite time of year! I love the cozy clothes and food. I’ve been eating pumpkin everything the past few days. I even made a few different soups this week!
Turner loves it too. It’s nice and cool in the mornings, but it warms up to the 80s in the afternoon. He wants to go outside every chance he can get, “SIDE SIDE”.
I was even able to bust out some new fall clothes I got him!
I love this age. We’ve gotten into a nice little routine. In the mornings, we go to the gym and Turner plays in the little daycare there. He LOVES going to the gym. When we get home, we have lunch and then Turner takes his nap. He’s transitioned to one nap a day. It was a slow process. He could probably still nap twice a day. He’s now able to stay awake until about 12 and naps till about 2. That’s my chunk of time to get A TON of work done. After nap, we either go for a walk or play outside or in the office while I get some more work done.
Stew gets home around 5 or 6. Then it’s dinner, a walk, and bath-time. Turner loves to read stories before bed. He goes straight to his rocking chair after his bath for a little reading and snuggling. Stew and I have alternated the rocking and reading part since he was born. I love it because it has helped Turner go to sleep without always needing Mama!
I can’t get enough snuggles and kisses with Turner. He just gets better with age! I definitely have my times where I need a break, but I love spending my days with this little guy!
Usually, by the time August comes around, I’m completely over summer and already pulling out my fall decorations. This year has been a little different. I haven’t been in a rush for “what’s next” like I usually am. I’m definitely in love with the stage Turner is in right now. He’s hilarious and non-stop, so I’m not trying to wish anything away! I actually wish time could stand still.
Last night seemed to be the turning point for me. I spent the night at Starbucks while Stew hosted a poker game with his friends, and I was enjoying the cooler weather that seemed to just appear out of nowhere! I sipped on my Salted Caramel Mocha and played around on Pinterest. Everything I came across was hinting towards cooler weather: dark nail polish, chunky sweaters, and pumpkin everything! It definitely got me into the fall spirit!
This morning, we had a slow start to the day which allowed me time to bake a little fall treat. I love everything apple and pumpkin-spice! So I made a healthier version of pumpkin spice donut holes. I swapped out the flours and baked them instead of frying. They were absolutely delicious! I had to take a second to share them with you!
I LOVE Labor Day! I definitely don’t want to see summer go, but I’m starting to look forward to fall. Every year, around this time, I get SUPER excited for all things fall… cool nights, apple cider, apple picking, leggings and boots, and comfort food! It’s even more exciting since Turner’s been born. It means time to think of Halloween costumes and plan his birthday party! But, before we wish this summer away, we will continue to enjoy it while we can.
I had to go out to Dewees Island on Friday and Saturday to check some renters in, so we didn’t get much family time. But we DID celebrate yesterday. We went to church in the morning, then came home for nap time, then hit the beach! Surprisingly there was NO traffic! I was hesitant to go to the beach for fear of spending more time in the car than on the beach. Not the case!
Turner’s favorite part was throwing wet sand all over the place. He was cracking himself up! I’ll take that over him eating it like last summer!
I love holidays with our little munchkin. He makes them so much more exciting! He definitely helps me live in the moment and not wish time away! Happy Labor Day!
