Sunday Funday

As I mentioned in my previous post, Stew and I have been insanely busy. Yesterday was the first day we were both off in months. It was great. We started the day by going to church together. I’ve been going it alone since he was working on the weekends. It’s always nice to have a second set of arms!

After church, we came home and had lunch. Then I ran out to get some groceries and run a few errands. We even got the family together for Sunday dinner at my mom’s! It’s always awesome to see them.

Every time the family sees Turner, I feel like he has changed. He looked like such a big boy running around my mom’s house and playing with everything in site! He loves going to her house. She knows exactly what to do to excite him.

Turner’s favorite part of Sunday dinner, aside from spending time with family, is the food! He is such a good eater. I can hardly keep up with how much he wants to eat!!

That picture pretty much sums up my life: cook, eat, eat some more, nap, cook, eat, repeat. Turner is turning into quite the hilarious kid.

I always love the weekends. But I especially love when we get to enjoy it as a family! Such a fun day!

So Much Happening!

The past few weeks have been INSANE. We have been going a million miles a minute. I finally am able to catch my breath!

Some of you may know I was the Executive Director of Dewees Rentals right here on Dewees Island. Well, a few months ago, I was talking to my boss, and she was throwing around the idea of selling the rental business. I was surprisingly ok with it. I wasn’t worried, because my Rodan+Fields side job would generate enough money that I could really be a stay at home mom! I mean, that would free up my time, A LOT, to focus on Turner and Stew (and me, in theory).

Well, after lots of talking, crunching numbers, praying, and more talking, I decided that I would take over the business! This all happened in the past 3 weeks. I’m really excited about it. The best part is, I can still do it from home! Stew was the one who really helped me make the decision. He’s a contractor which makes getting things repaired much easier! He said he’d go out there and do any maintenance he could! So, needless to say, he’s been out there every weekend for the past month. The dust has finally started to settle and things are getting back to normal.

I had a breakfast meeting this morning, but Stew was off (finally). So, when I got home, we were able to enjoy some family time! It’s been far too long since the three of us spent a full day together. It was amazing. We didn’t do much, but the lack of doing was refreshing! It was stormy which is the best when you have nowhere to be!

After the rain slowed down, and Turner woke up from his nap, we went for an early dinner at a pizzeria around the corner. It was delicious! I talked to the owner and told him how much I loved his pizza. Turned out he was the owner of a pizza place in the tiny town I’m from in NJ! No wonder I loved it. Turner was a big fan too.

We came home from dinner, grabbed the dog, and went for a walk. Felt good to get back into our little routine.

As I read Turner The Kissing Hand before bed tonight, I was so overwhelmed with love for this little ok giant person. It feels like yesterday that he was this pudgy blob that couldn’t communicate. Now he’s such a smart little boy! He talks so much and is such a little creature of habit. It’s amazing watching someone develop and learn right before your eyes! I thank God for him every.single.day and want to make the best life for him!

4th of July Festivities

I LOVE the 4th of July. Basically, I love any reason to dress in color-coordinated outfits and drink out of festive straws.

This morning, we decided to have a last minute BBQ in the afternoon. Leading up to that, our day was pretty low key. Since Stew was off from work, I went to the gym in the morning and then hit the grocery store for a few things (that may or may not have included s’mores ice cream sandwiches). It was surprisingly empty, so I was in and out!

When I got home, we all had some lunch, and then Turner napped. Stew and I cleaned the house and did some laundry. Once Turner woke up, around 2, we hit the pool! I love having a pool in our neighborhood. I get very grumpy in traffic, so we all win this way!

We came home, got cleaned up, and prepped for the BBQ! And by prepped I mean Turner ate peanut butter crackers and looked out the window waiting for all of his friends to show up.

Stew’s brother and his wife came over, along with my friend Toni, her husband Jason, and their son Andrew (Turner’s bestie). Side note: If you’re wondering why Turner has a headband on, it’s actually a belt that he likes having tied around his head. His alter-ego is better known as “Rambaby”.

We had so much fun! Since it was last minute, we did BYOMeat and a side to share. The men grilled while we hung out with the kiddos.

I love any excuse to celebrate. 4th of July is among the best. No drama, no gifts, no cards, just fun! Now that we got all of our partying out, it’s time to be old people and grumble about the fireworks that will undoubtedly keep me awake all night! Happy 4th!
